Recent Empties

Hi y'all,

I really got into saving my empty product bottles and other types of containers since I last did an "Empties" video (which was already nearly three months ago in April). I do have quite a lot of empties in this one, so I am planning to do another one quite soon. I wasn't really ready to collect all the empties yet since I'm running low on a few products but I do have to draw the line somewhere, don't I??

So, here we go!

I'll start at the top left-hand corner, I tried to arrange the products in some logical order as well. So, first of all, I totally used my shampoo and conditioner up recently. I used some very nice saloon brands, Cutrin Colorism Shampoo for color treated hair and Cutrin Professional Bio+ Original Energen Care Strengthening Conditioner in 2 Hair Vitality. I really did like both of these so I would recommend Cutrin as a brand (wherever you can get hold of it, I think it might only be available in Scandinavia and possibly online, I'm not too sure at all..), but as you all know there are so many amazing haircare brands out there so I've already moved onto other ones :) But I rate these products so high I might very well go back to Cutrin at some point in the future.

Moving onto facial skincare (the products at the bottom of the photo), I used up my Clean & Clear Shine Control Daily Facial Moisturiser. What grabbed me here was "shine control" since my skin tends to get quite shiny and oily in high temperatures. I was, however, already looking forward to finishing this one as I bought it quite a long time ago and was determined to just get rid of it. It wasn't necessarily bad, but I didn't find anything to be really special about it (no scent, for example, which I always think is a nice bonus), so I found myself getting bored of it quite easily. I'm done with it now though, and I definitely won't repurchase this one (compared to other, really nice facial moisturisers I know), and probably nothing from Clean&Clear either. I just wasn't really impressed by this one.

I also finished the Garnier Moisture+ Restore Night Care night cream that I purchased in February. I was really impressed by this considering Garnier is definitely at the cheaper end when it comes to skincare brands, and it is very readily available. I liked the consistency of this, which was gel-like (I can imagine this would be a really nice night cream during the summer since it feels so light), and I noticed that it helped even out my skin tone and improve the appearance of blemish marks that I get quite badly. Overall, I rate this moisturiser very highly and would be very likely to repurchase it!

I used up my cleanser that I picked up at the same time with the Moisture+ night cream (I remembered that they had some kind of a deal on the Garnier products at the time, and I was correct as my blog post confirmed. Times like these, I'm so happy I'm doing this blog thing :D). It was the Garnier Fresh Cleansing Lotion for normal to combination skin. I have to say that at the time I was using this cleanser, I wasn't very impressed at all. I felt like it was a nice thing to do before properly cleansing my face as it took most of my makeup off, but I felt like it was nowhere near good enough to be used on its own if you wear makeup (even though the packaging says it also removes makeup). However, I was using it on a wet face, i.e. I splashed some water on my face first and then rubbed in the lotion, which I wiped away with a cotton pad. Since then, I've used another, similar cleansing lotion which I rubbed in on a dry face and then wiped away with a cotton pad. I feel like if I'd done that with this Garnier cleansing lotion, the results would have been better. But, to be honest, the packaging said nothing of how it's supposed to be used, which I found quite disappointing. In conclusion, I felt like this was a nice cleanser, but maybe not strong enough as a standalone cleanser but rather to be used before a proper cleanse.

Another product that I was kind of eager to use up was Aveeno Positively Radiant Brightening Cleanser. It promises a lot of things, and the promises would probably grab me even now if I saw it on a shop shelf. I picked this up over a year and a half ago when I was in Florida, and I didn't really find anything to be wrong with it. Just like with the Clean&Clear moisturiser, I just didn't think there was anything too special about it. It was a nice cleanser that did the job, but I actually was a bit put off by the scent (or smell, more like), I don't even know what it was supposed to be. Anyway, I'm glad this is gone now, and I most likely won't repurchase this as I didn't find it did anything too much towards brightening my face.

The final facial skincare product here is the Sanctuary Spa Deep Cleanse Facial 5 Minute Thermal Detox Mask. I liked using this mask as the thermal part of it was really interesting and I really felt like it was doing something to  my skin every time I had it on. My skin felt really soft afterwards. However, I was using this towards the end of spring/start of summer, so the self-warming aspect of the mask wasn't as appealing as when I purchased it before Christmas. However, this was a really nice face mask that I might repurchase for the coming winter (though let's not go into that yet, it's still July!) :)

I used up two body skin care products, firstly the Soap & Glory Smoothie Star Deep Moisture Body Milk. This is my favourite Soap & Glory scent together with the Breakfast scrub (I do believe they belong in the same scent "family", if you will), so I really enjoyed using this body lotion. All the Soap & Glory products are really moisturising as well, so I have really nothing to complain about. I'm sure I'll repurchase this one, though Soap&Glory have so many different scents I want to try. But I'm sure I'll come back to this one at some point, it's my favourite of their body lotions so far :) (I just gave the bottle a little sniff and I was transported straight into heaven. Ahhhh....)

I also finished my trusted Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Hand Cream. This is my Holy Grail of hand cream during the winter as my hands tend to get very dry (I seriously think it's a vicious cycle, your hands crave more hand cream the more you use it, but I can't help it). If you suffer with dry hands, try this one because it's the strongest hand cream I've found, and it lasts a long time as well as it is very concentrated. I haven't repurchased a new one of these yet but I 100% will come winter. Currently I'm using a Garnier Intensive 7 Days Restoring Hand Cream which is a bit lighter for the summer :)

The only two makeup products I've used up recently are the Rimmel Sun Shimmer Bronzing Compact Powder and the Maybelline Dream Mat Powder. The bronzer I'd already repurchased a couple of times before and it's definitely been my standard bronzer/contour for a long time, so I'd definitely recommend it. I recently found a Collection bronzer I really like, but I might go back to the Rimmel one in the future, who knows :) When it comes to the Maybelline powder, again, I didn't have any problems with it, really, but I'm currently using the Rimmel Stay Matte powder which I think is so much better than the Maybelline one, so I'd recommend the Rimmel one over it any day, especially if you are looking for a mattifying powder :)

As a final random thing, I included an empty pack of Wrigley's Extra White Gum (they have it in a regular and bubblegum flavours, I've tried and like both). I'm seriously addicted to this stuff. First of all, I like using gum after I've eaten sugary foods/drinks on the go, but I also feel like this does really help keep my teeth white. I can honestly tell the difference when I haven't been using this gum, so if anyone is looking for an easy way to keep their teeth white (it's probably not very strongly whitening, but it helps to maintain the look of white teeth), I'd really recommend this one!

So that's it, a review of some products I've used up during the past few months. It ended up being quite a lot, so I'm planning on doing the next one sooner! :D Let me know your thoughts on these products if you've tried them, or something similar. I'd really, really love to hear your thoughts ;)

Love,

Maddy-Lou
