January Favourites

I haven't done monthly favourites before, and I'm not sure if this is a January favourites or just a current favourites, but since it's only the beginning of February and I have actually been loving these things throughout January, I guess I can call this my January favourites!

Anyway, I guess I'll start with the beauty items. My first January favourite is a face mask by Úna Brennan. It's called the Super Facialist Salicylic Acid Anti Blemish Pore Purifying Clay Mask. Pheew, that's a mouthful even written down. I have to say I haven't noticed that it's been massively "anti-blemish" in the sense that I wouldn't get any breakout even though using the mask once or twice a week, which it recommends in the package and which is how often I have been using it. However, I really like the cooling effect it gives when you have the mask on, and I really, really like how soft my skin feels after using it. Literally, my skin feels softer for three to four days, which is when I'll usually do it again :) It says on the back of the tube, "Feel like you have had an expert facial every day", which is exactly how I've been feeling. Just a word of warning, it's recommended to be left on for 5 minutes, and I would not advise to go much beyond that since it is a clay mask, and it gets really hard and difficult to remove :)

Makeup-wise, in addition to NARS Sheer Glow which I mentioned in my previous favourites, I've been loving the Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation. I've really been going between these two foundations since December. I feel like Wake Me Up is just such a pick-me-up and gives you a really radiant glow as it promises (I think you might even be able to see the light shimmer in the picture I took). It's also good coverage and smells fresh. So, these two foundations have really had a special place in my heart these past few months :)

When it comes to clothing, I don't really have a favourite piece (although I've really been loving the white turtleneck from Primark that I wore in this post, and which at £6 was a complete bargain), but I have enjoyed visiting a specific store, which is River Island. You can see a shirt I bought from there here, and I also really loved a lot of the other things they had in. I've been especially eyeing the rollneck dresses they have, and I think I want to buy one for the spring to wear with a leather jacket...

Transitioning smoothly onto my next topic, I don't know how many of you watched the SuperBowl last Sunday, probably most of you were sensible and did not because it was airing at "crazy-late" am here in the UK. I was asking around if any of my friends were interested to have a get-together, but most of them were not "especially keen". I actually ended up watching it, though, on the Channel 4 website. It probably would have been much nicer with a bunch of friends and lots of chicken wings, but anyway. I learned a bit of the rules when I spent a semester in Florida (football was huge there), so I actually got quite into the game. Anyway, my point here is that I thoroughly enjoyed the half-time show by Katy Perry and it reminded me of how much I actually enjoy her music. So, Katy Perry songs on repeat has been what I've been listening to since then. My favourite ones include Thinking Of You, Roar, Dark Horse, Love Me, Firework, Pearl and Hummingbird Heartbeat. I also watched the Part of Me documentary on Netflix last night, which made me appreciate her story and background and got me really inspired. Obviously, it also made me feel like crap about my life and my appearance.

When it comes to Netflix (like when doesn't it?), there's one show that I've REALLY gotten into this year. It is Friends, and I have to admit I've never really watched it before apart from an odd episode here and there. I don't really know how I've done it, to be honest. But, I agree with every person on the planet that it's the best show ever, I laugh out loud at some point during each episode. If there's any weirdo out there like me who's managed to come this far before getting into it, I seriously recommend it to anyone with a sense of humour. I'm onto season 2 now, and I might just be finished with the series before the month's out, we'll see.

A final favourite belongs in the food/drink category, and in the "drink" one to be exact. I'm trying to limit fizzy drinks, but I do still drink them, and my favourite one at the moment is Tango Orange. I've been deprived of it previously since we don't have it in Finland, and I think I definitely have a deficit that needs refilling since I've really been enjoying drinking it recently. It's just more refreshing that, say, Coca-Cola or Pepsi, and somehow it tastes to me like it doesn't have that much sugar in it. That is probably not the case, but my brain really likes the idea anyway. So, it is my go-to soft drink at the moment.

This has been the broad spectrum of things I've been loving in January and probably will love throughout February as well. Let me know if you've loved anything similar or if you have had any stand-out favourites recently. I'd love to hear of them!

Love,
Maddy-Lou
